Thailand imposes new preventive measures to combat Corona on travelers

The Ministry of transport and the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand have instructed airlines flying to the Southeast Asian country to determine the new travel and arrival procedures that will come into force starting at one o'clock in the morning on January 9.

The ministry said in a statement on Saturday that the new guidelines will apply to all non-Thais and will remain in force until at least January 31.

The instructions require all passengers over the age of 18 to provide their own vaccination certificate to the airlines stating that they have received at least two doses of approved Covid-19 vaccines.

Alternatively, travelers can also provide a letter from a doctor certifying that they have recovered from Corona in 7 days to 6 months (180 days), or get a medical certificate from a doctor stating that they are unable to get vaccinated.

The instructions also state that if the country to which you are returning after traveling to Thailand requires Covid-19 testing(such as India or China), you must have medical insurance that will cover your infection with the virus for the duration of your stay.

Thai citizens with a Thai passport are exempt from all vaccination and insurance requirements.

If a passenger shows signs of coronavirus infection, he will be asked to take the Test at his own expense, upon arrival in Thailand.

The new travel measures were put in place to match the arrival of Chinese visitors from Monday, after the Chinese government removed a number of travel restrictions for the fight against coronavirus, including compulsory quarantine upon return to China.
