In Loving Memory: Evanston Resident, 22, Remembered for Radiance and Joy (colorado ski accident)
- A tragic ski accident in Colorado has left the Evanston community mourning the loss of 22-year-old Eileen Sheahan, a beloved college student known for her lightness and joy. Eileen lost her life in a skiing incident near Aspen Highlands Ski Resort, colliding with a tree on the resort's exhibition run, as reported by the Aspen Skiing Company.
Eileen, a senior at the University of Michigan set to graduate in May with a degree in economics, had deep roots in Evanston. She attended St. Joan of Arc for grade school and later graduated from Loyola Academy in Wilmette in 2020.
A visitation to celebrate Eileen's life is scheduled from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 4, at Donnellan Family Funeral Home in Skokie. The funeral Mass will take place on Monday, Feb. 5, at 10:30 a.m., at Old St. Patrick’s Church in Chicago, with the option to livestream.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Eileen Sheahan Memorial Scholarship at The Academy at St. Joan of Arc or Loyola Academy, noting that both schools held a special place in Eileen's heart.
Eileen's parents, TJ and Patti Sheahan, expressed their gratitude for the 22 beautiful years they had with their cherished daughter. Remembered as an amazing big sister, best friend, and role model, Eileen's legacy lives on through her decision to be an organ donor.

The Sheahan family shared, "We feel blessed to have had 22 beautiful years with our cherished daughter and comforted at this time to feel her presence and love all around us."
Eileen's aunt, Kathy O'Brien Caplice, reflected on her niece's impact, stating, "We will miss seeing Eileen walk into a room, and having the entire room light up. We will miss her amazing smile, and the lightness and joy she brought with her wherever she went."
Eileen, a accomplished and humble young lady, had nearly straight A’s, a job waiting for her post-graduation, and a genuine warmth that left a lasting impression on those who had the privilege of knowing her. The community mourns the loss of a radiant soul and offers condolences to the Sheahan family during this difficult time.
